... and a Lockley Skimmer 45 Iceboat
 |
The Skimmer 45 is a single seater made out of tubular steel, designed by Joe Lockley and Hank Evans, with some help from Meade Gougeon.
The ice must be at least 6 inches thick. It usually takes 5-7 days with temperatures in the low 20's for the ice to be safe. Even then, other factors such as salinity, current, weather conditions etc. can affect the strength of the ice. ICE BOATS WILL NOT RUN THROUGH SNOW (not even as little as 1/2"). SNOW ALSO HIDES DANGEROUS ICE!
